"So justice is far from us, and righteousness does not reach us.We look for light" Isaiah 59:9.
During that time, It was the time of darkness where everyone is searching for the Light. "All of us have become like one who is unclean." (Isaiah 64:6) "How long, Lord, must we call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, “Violence!” but you do not save?" (Hub 1:2) we asked. In search of the Light we shouted “Reach down your hand from on high; deliver us and rescue us" (Psalm 144: 7) "Even our righteous acts were like filthy rags" (Isaiah 64:6) It became worse… "It became the land of deepest night, of utter darkness and disorder, where even the light was like darkness.” (Job 10:22) We were desperate in seeking of the Light. “But now, for a brief moment, the Lord our God has been gracious in leaving us a remnant and giving us a firm place in his sanctuary, and so our God gives light to our eyes and a little relief in our bondage." (Ezra 9:8) and we started looking for that glimpse of light. Other prophets were sent and kings anointed but the darkness still kept overcoming us. "They came as a witness to testify concerning that Light. They themselves was not the Light." (John 1) little that they can do, there was nowhere to go. “All of us were still living by faith (Promise) when we died. We did not receive the things promised; we only saw Him and welcomed Him from a distance” (Heb 11:13). We fasted and prayed so that the Light will shine on us. But then “He saw that there was no one, He was appalled that there was no one to intercede/reconcile; so his own arm achieved salvation for Him” (Isaiah 59:8) Our fasting got a response. In Him was life, and that life was the Light of all mankind. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can’t overcome it. (John 1) The true Light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. We wanted that kind of Light that will shine within us eternally. So again now we fast… we fast so we need the Light in our own life. We need the Light so it can shine on our faults and flaws so we can see them and repent. We need the Light to see in order to clean our hatred infested heart. We are desperate of the Light to search and purify our sin polluted mind. So that we do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our mind.(Rom 12:2) Yes! we fast again because we need the Light…
